The Challenge

Modernizing an archaic hiring process

Prior to 2019, hiring efforts at Aristotle were comprised of a series of time-consuming and tedious manual processes. Candidate information was stored in spreadsheets and hiring decisions were based on paper resumes.

Without a dedicated recruiting team, processes were slow to produce results and impossible to scale effectively. Candidates were often stuck in limbo, waiting for a response. Despite a slow workflow, Aristotle’s success at investment management meant the company was expanding – and its team needed to grow simultaneously. In 2018, Rebecca Abraham joined Aristotle as Vice President of Human Resources. She immediately identified the need to centralize recruiting efforts and began looking for a solution.


The Solution

“We needed a better way to organize, track metrics and ensure we were getting the outcomes we needed,” Rebecca said. “I proposed an ATS and evaluated a number of them – but then remembered JazzHR and determined it was the best solution for our needs.”

As an ADP® payroll client, Aristotle was able to digitally purchase JazzHR directly through the ADP Marketplace and take advantage of the pre- built integration between JazzHR and ADP®. “That experience [purchasing through the Marketplace] was very straightforward,” Rebecca noted. Aristotle officially became a JazzHR customer in March 2019. Once signed up, the team found it very quick and easy to implement the solution. Rebecca was impressed with the speed at which her team was able to get moving: “It’s very intuitive, straightforward and easy to implement. You pay for the month and are up and running the next day.” It didn’t take long for other stakeholders to see the advantages of using JazzHR. “Our hiring managers have had very positive reactions,” Rebecca said. “Even searches that had been going on a long time – I still have the hiring managers saying, ‘Wow, this is such a more pleasant experience than the last time we hired when we had a stack of paper resumes that we scanned.’”

With JazzHR, Aristotle has been able to optimize its candidate experience, which supports its reputation as a thoughtful employer. “If you don’t have an ATS for candidates, it’s impossible to respond to everyone, especially people who aren’t selected,” said Rebecca. “It’s nice to be able to have the canned email for people who aren’t hired to have that level of communication set.”
